A desktop planning tool designed to make National Park travel more accessible
Overview
Routr was my senior capstone project, inspired by my time exploring southern Utah. While the national parks draw most visitors, the surrounding regions are equally breathtaking and often empty. Routr is a single-screen tool that makes it easy for travelers to plan visits to these lesser-known areas.
My Role
As a solo capstone project, I was responsible for the entire UX process, from initial research and competitive analysis to mapping user flows, building wireframes, designing the visual identity, and then creating a detailed, high-fidelity prototype.

User Interface
With no page transitions to structure the process, I had to build a system that felt intuitive and progressive without traditional navigation. Through careful use of interaction design—like expanding panels, color cues, and animations—I created a sense of movement and flow, all within a static framework.

Advanced Prototyping
Interactive components, conditional logic, and variable-based flows allowed the prototype to adapt to user inputs, making usability testing more accurate and allowing me to validate how intuitive the experience really was.
